Rothbury


Rothbury another town nestling in a valley, with its wide open greens, the river Coquet running through and a medieval bridge, linking to stone built house's on both sides.
Steep winding roads descending from two directions, heavily wooded hillsides, it really is a post card setting.

Appearing through the trees, on one side is "Cragside House", the main reason why Rothbury has so many visitors.
Built by Norman Shaw for the 1st Lord Armstrong, the Inventor & Engineer from Newcastle.
Now part of the National Trust, when open the public can enjoy this 900 Acre's of Country Park and gardens along its 40 miles (64:4 km ) of scenic drives and pathways.
The interior of the house, splendid it is of late victorian atmosphere, it was also the first house in the world to be, entirely lit by electric light.
