A beautiful village on the North Northumberland coast, a popular place for visitors from all over the world, many local people enjoy a day out, spending time on the one of coast's finest beaches, stretching along to the fishing village of Seahouses.
Both Bamburgh and Seahouses can accommodate visitors with their hotels, holiday cottages, caravan and camping sites. there are also a varity of restaurants and gift shops.
Bamburgh is also the home of the 'Grace Darling Musem' the story of her heroic night can be found on the tour page.
But the most impressive feature and lasting
memory, of visitors to Bamburgh, is it's Castle, standing high on
a rock base, it can be seen from miles away. Many travellers
going north or south, on the east coast railway or the A1 road,
will have noticed this castle, one of my favorites. A Norman
stronghold which has survived many sieges, it stands overlooking
the village on one side, with views of the Farne Islands-- Holy
Island and those lovely beaches on the other. The castle is open
to the public, April--Oct, showing a fine collection of Arms and
Artwork.
